The climactic sixth day of the Skanda Sashti vow, observed at Tiruchendur and other Murugan shrines. Dramatic enactment of Murugan's destruction of the asura Surapadma at dusk; the defeated asura is transformed into a peacock (Murugan's mount) and a rooster (his banner).
